The background to this story is that Cheshire East are carrying out a review of the Carers' respite services offered by Lincoln House – this has been picked up by the ADCA Carers' Support Group who are very concerned about the suggested closure of Lincoln House for residential respite given that many of us have used it in the past and are doing so now. The proposal is to provide more support at home, day care and direct payments and some provision of respite in the independent sector.

ADCA wrote to Councillors Janet Clowes and Rachel Bailey with our concerns and they responded positively about wanting to ensure the right level of respite continued into the future and offered to come to our carers group to discuss further – and also for them to hear about the good progress the Carers' Support Group are making . They are coming to a special Audlem Carers' Support Group meeting on Thursday (September 18th) at 10.30 AM in the Lord Combermere.

Anyone who is concerned or interested is invited to attend and hear about options for future respite and the future of Lincoln House. Clearly, one key issue is that Lincoln House is used as a 'step down' facility from hospital prior to returning home and also acts in emergencies to prevent hospital admission.

The facts about the consultation can be found on Cheshire East's website here. This page also includes a link to where you can enter your views about Lincoln House. The consultation period closes on October 8th.
