Well, if Thursday started as it meant to go on, then so it did! The Bells rang out at 7.00pm last night, with a magical peel to start the festival proceedings, and what a welcome they made.

At 7.00pm (ish) The Bridge Inn welcomed singer & songwriter Sammi Elston who set the early doors session off. A great little set to get the festival moving, which was warmly received.

At 8.00pm, The Heidi Browne Band got things off to a warm start at The Lord Combermere pulling in a great audience and delivering yet another excellent performance.

The follow up at the Bridge was the village's own Folkwits, hitting the stage at 9.00pm. The place was wall to wall for this outstanding duo: they look the part, they play the part and they perform. It was that packed yours truly made the mistake of giving up his front row seat and couldn't get back in!

Then, if the previous performances had not got you, what happened next at the Lord C
certainly did. Rook and the Ravens landed, before soaring to new heights. Opening with a few numbers to draw you in with stunning harmonies, then launching full on in to rock-mode to a more than appreciative audience. If the CD & T-shirt sales were to go by at the end of the gig, it was a good show!

Now, down at the Shroppie, and I cannot confirm this, but rumours were that to get to see Whisky Head there was an entrance fee. All I can say is that the Shroppie came back to life shortly before the Festival was upon us, and they agreed they wanted to put bands on which they funded directly, fair play, and also taking an advert in the programme.

However, The Audlem Music Festival at the participating venues is Free by the fact that we
have a great community and business community supporting the Festival through
sponsorship, time, effort etc. oh and also enjoying the event.

So, Saturday is next, and what a day that will be.
