We are sure many in Buerton will pleased to read the following information that was posted on Chatbox.

'We have had an update from Cheshire East. A site visit has taken place today at a farm which is a possible source of the smell.

'It has been confirmed that the source is from a slurry tank that has been used in the past for storing / mixing tea waste for later spreading. This tank has some contents remaining which are mostly tea waste liquor which is giving off this sulphur smell.

'They have confirmed that this tank will be emptied over the next week and spread over local fields so in the short term next week things may be worse.

'It has been agreed that tea waste will not be stored in this way again and if not able to be spread on delivery that it will be stored in tanks.'

Our Chatbox contributor was asked if Cheshire East would be following up the inspection to make sure the required action had been carried out. The response was:

"I think she has been shocked at the amount of people who have emailed or rang her complaining. She has had at least 40 complaints this week and quoted AudlemOnline as being where people had got contact information from. So thanks to the support here – we have achieved more in 1 week than what a few residents in Buerton have managed in 3 years."

AudlemOnline adds: It's been the hard work of some local residents that has had the impact. By carrying reports on this unwelcome smell, however, we are glad the website has been of some help.
