Two great films are coming to the Public Hall on 9th January. At 5.00pm, there's a treat for families with Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel followed at 7.30pm by Glorious 39, a British period drama.

Glorious 39 (rated 12A) was released in November 2009 and is directed by Stephen Poliakoff. There's a host of stars including Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Julie Christie, Jeremy Northam, Christopher Lee, David Tennant and Jenny Agutter.

On the eve of World War II, as the formidable Keyes family try to uphold their traditional way of life, their daughter Anne, played by Romola Garai, sees her life dramatically unravel when she stumbles upon secret recordings of the pro-appeasement movement.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel was described by Varierty magazine as a "frenetic but undeniably funny follow-up that offers twice the number of singing-and-dancing rodents in another seamless blend of Computer-generated imagery and live-action elements."

Tickets are £2.50 for children and £5 for adults for the 5.00pm show and £5 for the evening performance.
