Audlem's festival season 2013 was heralded today as scores of flags were hoisted throughout the village.

Members of ASET (Audlem Special Events Team), ADAS (Audlem District Amenities Society) and the Audlem Music and Arts Festival team were out in force to string up festival bunting around the village ahead of next weekend's Audlem Music Festival.

And the first of the fairground carnival rides has been parked on Audlem playing fields in readiness for the fun.

The Audlem Music Festival is now in it's 13th year with a host of bands booked in for gigs and events all around the village.

The music festival kicks off this year with the return of the popular Poetry Slam at the Bridge Inn on Thursday May 23rd and rounds off with a Grand Carnival on the playing fields on Monday and festival favourites Twin Frets playing the Shroppie Fly and a Steve Smith set at the Bridge Inn.

More than 180 performers have been booked for the biggest free festival in the area. Highlights include the Funkbreakers and Alive & Kicking at the CAMRA award-winning Lord Combermere.

A host of daily and evening events throughout Audlem include poetry readings, art exhibitions, classical concerts, bell-ringing and goodness knows what else. Check the Audlem Festival website for details.
