Fantastic Charity Quiz Night

Last night The Lord Combermere was packed with virtually every chair taken as we gathered for the now annual charity night.

As you may know this was in aid of the extremely important hospice for children as they face the end of their life. It's the Donna Louise Hospice , and we had Christine and Hannah with us from their HQ in Trentham.

Christine gave a short speech on just how the care works and she touched all our hearts of the story of a young 4-year old who was terminal – and all that was done to make her days as happy as they could be.

The buffet served by The Lord C chefs was outstanding with much high praise from all present. And there was indeed plenty as grateful strangers were also given a plate.

The Auction

There was an excellent auction with the Star lot having a hammer price of £500!! All in all, together with the very successful sponsored walk by John Cooke, we ended the night with over £2500. A very handsome sum to help the Hospice in their vital work.

I am sorry that quite a few of our regular supporters of the quiz could not make it. I did so want them to enjoy the fruits of the year's quizzes. Hopefully they will be OK for the next such night.
