Thanks to Celia Bloor and Peter Morgan, lots of information on the Shuker, Dooler, Penlington and Dykes families has come in, as requested by Joan Salmon from Pickering in North Yorkshire – see yesterday's news story. If Joan Salmon could re-send her email address as part of a message to webteam@audlem.org">webteam@audlem.org we will forward the full information we have received.

Joan will be interested to know that it's a possibility that an ancestor was the Beadle in Audlem – the uniform still exists in the village – and had just rung curfew when, in 1815, the west side of the church tower fell in. Peter Morgan adds that the iron bar that spans the nave of the church to this very day was installed by the Shukers after an earthquake.

Many thanks to Celia and Peter for the fascinating information they have unearthed.
