The popularity of canal boat travel, coupled with a need for more marina spaces, has prompted a Hankelow family to propose plans for a marina basin on their land near to Audlem, between the Shropshire Union Canal and Coole Lane.
The Maughan family are hoping that the idea would enhance canal usage and provide valuable tourism income for Audlem, helping to establish it firmly as the gateway to the Weaver Valley Regional Park.
Whilst the idea is still in the pre-planning stage, they are keen to ensure that local people are aware of the proposal and during the Spring are likely to be seen chatting to boaters along the canal to gauge further interest.
