Last Thursday, Helen Smith (clothaholics.com) transported South Cheshire Embroiderers' Guild to Japan with her talk titled  "Introduction to Japanese Kimono and Fabrics".

Helen's fascinating talk informed us of the various traditions involved in wearing and the creating of the Kimono. Helen bought along many samples of the fabrics used for us to look at and handle. These unique fabrics demonstrated the different techniques of construction, many of which were painstakingly hand crafted.

Members happily engaged in some retail therapy with a varied selection of fabrics and beautiful Kimonos, available for purchase.

Our next meeting, 18th March, will be "The Textured Canvas" by Stacey Harvey-Brown.  Check out Stacey's website www.theloomroom.co.uk
