We are quarantined, locked down, told to 'STAY HOME',
One walk a day, preferably alone; no right to roam.
Through a window I hear birds singing tunefully,
Robins, blackbirds; a woodpecker visits, occasionally.
Medical staff, hospitals just coping, whilst numbers surge,
Thank the NHS, clap, bang a pan, on the street, that's the word
Daffodils bloom in groups on the green, the sun shines,
Trees are blossoming, green shoots of all kinds.
Practice social distancing, two metres apart, no parties allowed,
Visit the chemist, the post office, but don't sneeze out loud!
In the garden tulips, planted last Autumn, are seeking the light
Primroses, hyacinths, shrubs in full flower, oh what a sight!
People stock-piling toilet rolls, bread flour, cleaners, all sorts,
Bread makers busy, cupboards are full, we must not go short.
The weather is improving, the weekend will be warm,
But the Authorities warn us, we must STAY AT HOME,
The doors to all churches are now firmly closed,
Online Easter services however, can be observed.
To family and friends I send Easter cards which sing,
'Quiet joys, pleasant memories, hope that's what your Easter brings
