Audlem Festival next year could have some very interesting visitors from the Netherlands.

Two members of the Enter Clog Dancing group, Jan and Geja (pronounced Kria) Rutgers, have enjoyed this year's Festival so much they plan to ask their colleagues if a visit to Audlem could be a possibility in 2012.

Enter is a township in the Twente region, in the eastern part of the Netherlands, with a long tradition of making wooden shoes by hand. In 1992 a group called the Kloomp'n Daansers decided to put a new life into an old tradition.

They say: "We like to propagate the folklore of our region, especially the dances, songs, and music from the early 19th Century. We dress up in traditional costume the farmers from our region used to wear, including the world-famous wooden shoes, of course.

"Every now and then we perform at various events and festivals in the Netherlands and in the rest of Europe, as well as in Canada and the USA. Our group has 13 dancing couples and 5 musicians."

By our calculations, that's 62 clogs in all – by a remarkable coincidence, exactly the number of acts at this year's Festival!
