The Duke of York visited Brine Leas School yesterday to present awards to the students who had achieved a bronze medal in his iDEA scheme.
iDEA is a programme that helps people digital and enterprise skills. Through a series of online challenges and events, participants earn career-focussed badges with the aim of ultimately gaining industry recognised awards.
After a short introductory speech from the headteacher, Andrew Cliffe – containing the usual humour, which HRH appeared to enjoy – he presented framed awards to 42 students from year 9, as well as one to the school's head of IT.
In his talk to the students the Duke said "Be guided by your teachers, be guided by your parents but learn to learn yourselves."
