Sorry to trouble you but I did not know who to contact over this disturbing event.

Yesterday I was walking along the lake with my partner and our two very well behaved dogs which were kept upon their leads as per the signage requests.

When nearing the end of the walk we saw two women and three children.
The children were running after the swans, geese and ducks chasing and shouting at them with the women laughing and encouraging them, one women appeared to be filming them being chased on their phone. We challenged this behaviour and asked the women to stop their children from chasing the birds to which they replied we have asked them and then limply said " son so come here mate" – such excellent display of control and parenting skills teaching their offspring to respect all forms of life and to learn effectively right from wrong.

A gentleman on his bicycle also stopped and said something.

I am aghast by this seemingly acceptable behaviour yet the dog walker if bombarded with signage about how a dog off the lead can scare and worry the birdlife, and what the birds should and shouldn't be fed.

Why then is there
a) no signage regarding unruly children
b) no number to contact when unacceptable behaviour such as this or worse is witnessed
c) this is deemed acceptable behaviour and not freely challenged by adults (there were other adults in the area evidently too scared to challenge) to not intervene condones behaviour and assists in rearing delinquents of the future.

I always thought Nantwich was a pleasant town with pleasant people who took pride in the area in which they reside, evidently this is not the case.
Regards

B Williams

Ed: The swans in the photo were not the ones in the event
