Didn't we have a lovely time

A 2 hours boat trip on the Audlem Lass combined with beautiful vistas, a sunny day and a relaxed crew, what more could we want?

The Newcomers

It all started with one of Ralph Warburton's charity quiz nights. Loyal as our quiz team, The Newcomers, is in supporting the Lord Combermere quiz nights, when it comes to digging into our pockets, it's amazing how a little alcoholic imbibing somehow ensures that we throw caution to the wind and start bidding for anything on offer in the vague hope that it might be useful!

On this particular evening, and after due consideration of all of five seconds, our team commenced bidding for a trip on the Audlem Lass – always a handy thing to have in the unlikely event of Audlem flooding!

We can't remember exactly how much we bid, however I'm sure it went to some worthy charitable cause!

The wine stash

After due deliberation, it was unanimously voted that we use the trip to aid in the dispersal of our wine stash, always an ongoing problem as we seem unable to keep up with the amount of bottles we win at the quiz!

Voyage to Hack Green

So last Wednesday, on a beautifully sunny day, armed with enough picnic food to feed an army and with a couple of hangers on just to make up the numbers, we set off from the marina – safe in the capable hands of our two able seamen Cameron and Mike who were charged with the onerous but important task of protecting our bottles as well as steering our riotous crowd to Hack Green.

Undeterred by the huge crane and bridge repairs that we discovered at our chosen picnic spot, we unloaded our booty and enjoyed a perfect afternoon with convivial company and plenty of wine! Luckily our professional helmsmen refused all offers of alcohol and returned us safely to shore – not an easy task with ten merry quizzers onboard!

Thank you Ralph, for the weekly quizzes – we thought you might like to know the extra fun derived from all of your charitable efforts!
