Did the earth move for you too?

There was a small earth tremor in Audlem last night just before 1.00am, several residents have reported. Police in some parts of Cheshire received calls from worried people. One Audlem resident says that the pendulum on the clock stopped, the cats woke startled, but the dog slept through it, and the room definitely shook. Your Audlem Online correspondent also felt the shake and checked the time. A Crewe resident reports that for a few moments the birds in the trees outside started to cherp as well.

The British Geological Survey has confirmed an earthquake at just before 1am. The epicenter was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire and experts say the quake, measured at 5.3 on the scale, was felt as far away as London and Scotland.

It is the biggest quake in this country since 1984.
