Frenzied bidding at a Nantwich auction set a new record with a £108,000 bid for a diamond ring.
Lot 222, a 9 carat heart-shaped ring, was sold after rival Cheshire bidders took the price through the roof.
The ring was expected to fetch £15,000 – £20,000 and the final bid set a record price for jewellery at Peter Wilson antiques and art auctioneers in Nantwich.
The colourless heart shaped diamond ring, estimated at 9.03ct, has a five-claw setting with four shoulder baguettes on an white gold shank.
It was one of more than 500 lots up for grabs at the auctioneer's September Fine Art Sale
Auctioneer Robert Stones said: "Everything came together and the price just kept on going up and up."
A colourless diamond is one the most collectable pieces of jewellery as the grade is considered the highest.
