The funeral of Derek Mckelvey (previous owner and manager of Williams of Audlem for over 50 years), took place on Wednesday 23rd of January, at Audlem St James Church. This was followed by a "fish & chips" & Eccles cakes wake, at The Lord Combermere in Audlem.

The family wish to thank not only those who attended the service (especially given the inclement weather ), but also the overwhelming amount of people that have sent cards, and heartfelt words of sympathy and support. The family are also most grateful for the many kind donations received in memory of Derek at the Church, and also the donations that have continued to be left in Williams' shop, by those who were unable to attend.

Our special thanks on the day of the funeral goes to the following ;

  • Cynthia Murray from Oxleys Funeral Services,
  • the management & staff of the Lord Combermere,
  • The Bridge Inn & Shroppie Fly public houses (for use of their car parks),
  • the Baptist minister Bill Cowen,
  • the Reverend Helen Chantry,
  • organist John Owen (who so kindly stepped in at the last minute, due to unforeseen circumstances),
  • Flower Divas for providing the family flowers,
  • and for the personal tributes made by family friend, Jeremy Nicholls ( See pdf Link) and Cromlech Climbing Club representative Barry Grantham (See pdf link Derek Mckelvey Tribute ).
