Audlem residents now have only a few days to comment on plans to build a new housing estate in the village.

The deadline for making comments on the controversial proposals is next Wednesday, July 24th.

The council has so far published 78 comments on the scheme on its planning portal website.

Other organisations to formally object to the plans include Audlem Parish Council and Audlem District Amenities Society (ADAS).

The Parish Council is taking advice from professional planning consultants on framing its opposition strategy while Audlem Medical Practice has warned it could be forced to close its Patient List to new applicants if plans get the go-ahead.

Cheshire East Council is currently fighting 15 planning applications across the borough as speculative developers try to take advantage of the council's failure to complete its Local Plan.

Gladman Developments wants outline permission to build up to 120 dwellings, highway works, public open space and associated works on land at Little Heath, west of Audlem Road.

The application is scheduled to be heard at a Cheshire East planning committee meeting on August 14 with a decision target date set for August 23.

You can comment on the planning application by clicking the planning reference number here 13/2224N. This will take you to the page with details of the application where you can click the link 'Comment on this application' (bottom right of page) and the applicant details are filled out for you.

Or you can write to: Ben Haywood, Case Officer, Development Management, PO Box 606, Municipal Building, Earle Street, Crewe CW1 2BJ. Quote planning application no: 13/2224N and the Gladman Developments Ltd site address which is: Land west of Audlem Road, Audlem, Cheshire CW3 0HE. Provide your full name and address and state whether you are a member of the public, councillor, neighbour, relative etc.
