CVS Cheshire East's Annual Conference – Tuesday 24th June

We're sure you're going to be 'Gripped' by our Conference!

It's now less than 2 weeks until our free Annual Conference, aimed at our local Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector- this is the only Conference of its kind in Cheshire East and we hope to see you there.

This is your chance to meet with your Voluntary Sector friends & colleagues, network and share ideas and inspiration. Please spread the word!

Starting at 9.30am on Tuesday, 24th June and being held at the fantastic new, purpose built conference centre on the Alderley Park site of AstraZeneca, we are sure you are going to have a day to remember, a day of networking, learning and development.

Key Note Speaker

We are proud to welcome Karl Wilding, Director of Public Policy at NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) as our key note speaker. Karl will be speaking about the 2014 Almanac which was a study into the changing nature of Civil Society and the impact that austerity measures have had on the Voluntary Sector plus the many challenges that charitable organisations now face.

Launch of Gripp

A 'Helping Hand' to Voluntary Sector Organisations. We are looking forward to launching CVS Cheshire East's new online tool that will support and empower our members. Funded by Awards for All, it will enable you to assess your organisation's strengths and areas for development. We will demonstrate its capabilities and answer any questions you may have throughout the day.

6 Workshops to choose from

With Gripp in mind, most of our workshops during the day will focus on it's 5 key points
You will have the opportunity to attend 2 of these:

1. Governance – Planning for the Future

Do you and your trustees know what your mission and vision is? Come along to this useful workshop to help you challenge your own thinking and ensure that your whole organisation is governed to a high standard. It will also help you assess competency within your organisation and any steps you want to make to be even better!

2. Resources – Funding from Businesses

Business funding is an area that many organisations can find daunting and difficult to access. However, there are ways to confidently engage with businesses. Come to this introductory seminar for some key tips on how to 'sell' your organisation to businesses.

3. Information – Gathering Outcomes Data

This workshop will look at communication and in particular, how your organisation can communicate the difference it makes. We will look at outcomes, impact assessments and evaluations as well as looking at some examples of good practice. There is no reason why even the smallest organisation can't communicate the impact they make in a positive way.

4. Projects – Project Management

How do you know who does what and how in your organisation? Come along to find out more about project planning, and ensuring that the valuable work of your organisation is completed as it should be and to budget. This interactive workshop will also help you put processes in place to spot where things may go wrong and avoid it if possible.

5. People – Leadership of Staff and Volunteers

Do you want to get the best out of your staff and volunteers? Do you struggle to know how to recruit high calibre volunteers or staff? Learn new ways of motivating, supporting and encouraging those who work in your organisation, and get some tips on effective recruitment and retention by coming to this workshop.

There will also be the chance to attend a workshop on:

6. Voice & Influence – Have your Say

Come along to an interactive workshop that will give you an opportunity to have your say on local issues that are affecting the voluntary sector. We will be discussing: Mental Health, VCFS representation on the Health & Wellbeing Board, Transport & Early Help Hubs. See how you can influence planning and decision-making across the sector!
