After the previous days cancellation of the home league game, Audlem's Sunday cricketers made the short distance border crossing into Wales to play Fenns Bank CC at picturesque Iscoyd Park.
The original opponents ( nearby Coton Hall CC) were unable to raise a team on the day so a hastily arranged fixture was organized.
With rain always threatening Audlem's skipper again won the toss and had no hesitation in batting. Opening batsman Zar Ahmed managed to avoid a first ball beamer only to be bowled second ball of the innings and the visitors looked in a spot of bother but a belligerent knock from stalwart Paul Thorburn (34) and a stylish 37 not out from no.3 bat Usman Ghani forming a 62 run second wicket stand to put Audlem in control of the game.
After Paul's dismissal Paddy Leese joined Usman at the crease and at the halfway stage of the innings the visitors were handily placed on 92 for 2 looking to press on to a 200 plus total.
It was all in vain as the storm clouds that had been threatening finally closed in and brought a premature halt to proceedings.
Next week Audlem's Sunday team make a journey to the Wirral to lock horns with Burton CC ( 1:30pm start )
