Is Global Warming affecting Coriolis Force?

Coriolis is the gentleman who has given his name to the force that dictates which way water goes down the plug hole, clockwise or counterclockwise depending on whether you are north or south of the equator.

However recent research has suggested that global warming may be affecting this force such that the direction of travel for water that is plug hole bound is becoming more variable.

A recent letter published in the journal "Nature" penned by a Mrs Trellis of North Wales has started this debate. Mrs Avril Trellis is Professor of Environmental Science at Bangor University in North Wales and her specialism is studying the effect of intensive de-forestation on global warming. She writes that on a recent research study undertaken in areas of high de-deforestation in the Southern Hemisphere she noticed distinct variation in the direction of exit of water from her bath. She also quotes in her letter similar observations from other distinguished academics referencing directly findings from Professors Dee and Cryer, both leading experts from the much respected Mornington Crescent Research Institute.

Her letter has prompted much debate in academic circles.

We at the AudlemOnline team have several members who have relatives in the Southern Hemisphere. Indeed one of our members came across an Audlem resident currently travelling in Australia and asked for any comment she may have on this unusual finding. Her response, and we quote her directly was, "I'm sorry I haven't a clue, I don't understand any of the science!" Helpfully, she added that in her opinion water not knowing whether to veer right or left on it's way down a plug hole reflected the current state of politics in the UK – so which is it political confusion or climate change ?
