Last night's Community Action meeting heard the dramatic story from PC Ken Maple of the police pursuit of the two thieves who had broken into the Bridge Inn early in the morning. As reported last night on Audlem Online, two arrests have now been made, one on the canal towpath which also involved an assault on one of the arresting officers, and the second later in the day in Whitchurch after an extensive search with patrol cars and an aeroplane using a body heat seeking device as it flew low across the fields and hedgerows.

After that excitement, the discussion on parking, speeding, drivers using mobile phones and nuisance youths was almost mundane! The meeting asked for parking issues to be added to the police action list although concern was expressed that this could damage local businesses. Ken Maple was happy to report that nuisance youths had not been a nuisance in the last couple of months and that his speeding blitz had resulted in three fixed penalty fines. The crackdown on mobile phone use whilst driving is about to start.
