Janet Maughan at Overwater Marina has contacted AudlemOnline to say that Choldmondeston Lock on the Shropshire Union has been drained to reline the lock gates.
On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd February visitors are invited to come along and walk in the drained lock chamber and talk to the experts involved in the work.
The friendly local IWA (Inland Waterways Association) branch will have volunteers on duty over the weekend to help CRT welcome visitors who wish to tour the site.
A rise of 11ft 3in makes Cholmondeston Lock the deepest on the Shroppie, so this is a great opportunity to come and inspect its inner workings.
As well as the OverWater team and some of the marina's moorers, this weekend event may be of interest to others locally.
