Cheshire East Council Leader, Councillor Michael Jones fielded a barrage of questions ranging from mental health concerns to youth provision, voting at 16, council spending, even football, when he faced members of the Cheshire East Youth Council.
The Youth Council members met the Leader and members of his Cabinet for a one-hour "summit" when they visited the authority's headquarters in Sandbach.
And they have been invited to submit ideas for the Council's 2015/16 budget, which the authority's finance team is currently working on.
Councillor Jones said "What I do not hear often enough are the views of our young people. Young democracy is very important to us.
He told the group "You have a huge opportunity to influence the budget. You can guide us where the needs and issues affecting young people in Cheshire East are concerned."
Callum Coleman, representing the Cheshire East Youth Council said: ''It was a great opportunity to speak with Councillor Jones, I think it shows a big step forward and acts as a real indicator of our achievement as a group in such a short time.
"Plans are now in place for regular meetings going forward to discuss our campaigns on youth provision and mental health which is very exciting for all of us at CEYC.''
The Youth Council put forward a number of ideas to the Leader and told him about the progress they had made as a representative body since being formed in March this year.
Before leaving they managed to grab a "selfie" with the Leader and two of his cabinet colleagues.
