A number of you may have noticed that the ChatBox has not been working properly for the last couple of days. Our resident computer geeks have now fixed the problem. We would like to apologise to our ChatBoxers.

Failure report

The error was caused by a rogue token packet, blocked by the core switch. ChatBox comments were accidentally re-routed to our storage server which is encrypted. The problem was made worse by a transport layer failure, causing the gigabit subnet to go into 'safe mode'.

Luckily a member of the Audlem Online Integrated Grid Services team was in the area and managed to reinstall an 64bit kernel on the NAT router. Not bad when you consider that there was only half a metre of Cat5 data cable on the van, and the diagnostic dongle had been left in the Shroppie.
