The Carnival is over

This year was one of the best for good sunshine. The days of a parade through the village are, I am afraid, over. The health and safety issues that abound mean that no one wants the responsibility of a float full of children in case of an accident.

We live in a society of the suing culture and all are aware of this sad aspect and of the ambulance chasers who abound.

But, the chance for so many charities and good causes to have a stall is so very important. All did very well as attendances were high in the very fine weather.

No injuries at all. No lost children. Fun Fair organised safely. And a truly happy day for Daisy Poole as Carnival Queen and her princesses, Molly Lancaster and Harlie Jewell. I drove them to visit the folks at Corbrook nursing home to the obvious delight of the residents.

Good music by the band – who will be relocated next year – away from the high noise of the fair. Good attendance by the RAF cadets.

Note: A Child's purse was found on the field. If you lost it, call 02170 811467 to claim it.

Thank you all for making it a good day in the midst of the big Music & Arts Festival. And thanks to all who made it happen once again.

We covered all costs with just a small loss, which was a relief. Perhaps next year we will own the field for the use of the Audlem residents and not be dancing to the tune of the Cheshire East Council! That is down to The Parish Council.
