A controversial planning application has been made by the new owners of a piece of land on Coole Lane for a touring caravan site.

The application (17/3932N) is for the erection of a toilet block, construction of driveway, hard standings and associated works.
Residents are opposed to plans to develop the site primarily because a touring caravan site already exists yards away at the award-winning Overwater Marina which has recently been expanded -- and includes new toilet and shower facilities -- to accommodate more tourists.

An additional site would, in the view of many people, create added noise and light pollution, intrude and cause harm to open countryside, affect listed buildings and create even more traffic hazards on a busy road, a thoroughfare from Audlem to Nantwich, which also serves dairy farms and is used by thousands of cyclists every month.

Residents living next to Sunnyside Stables, which already has a brick-built entrance and gates, have raised concerns about the increased risk to the safety of children.

The application is being made by Mr Levi Finney.

Coole Lane was recently the subject of a controversial planning application for a travellers' camp in Hack Green. Campaigners won their battle to stop a development after the Planning Inspectorate ruled in their favour on the grounds that the proposal would have "certain significant and adverse effects on the character and appearance of the area".
