It was a fantastic turnout with eight volunteers joining, including volunteers from Chester and from Tyrley Locks and a huge amount of work was completed.
Saturday's work also branched out into a new field ' construction (in CRT terms), to give the team a chance to take on a new project, I am pleased to announce it all went well and was completed ahead of schedule, allowing the team to complete additional tasks and work.
The team took on the installation of two new mooring boundary totem posts between Locks 14 and 15. The existing posts are in the incorrect location and depict to boaters that the 48-hour visitor moorings include Lock 15 and both lock waiting moorings at Locks 14 and 15.
CRT had received bad press last year for this so it was a great opportunity for the volunteers to learn new work and close out complaints. The volunteers had also funded wild flower seeds and these were sown on the off-side bank adjacent to Lock 13.
As you know we as a team are passionate about returning Audlem to its former glory as a beautiful location, these wild flowers will also attract wildlife.
We continued with clearing mud from the towpath, several tonnes were moved from the surface returning the surface to a usable path. The work completed at Audlem on the 9th of January:
