Yes the Volunteers for C&RT based in Audlem have been out for their regular monthly task force day 10th December 2016.
The day was led by Roger Birch a full time employee and Team Leader of Canal & River Trust.
Our pre planned work programme took us up the Audlem Flight to the bottom of lock 3, road bridge 76 area.
A request had been made by towpath users and village residents 'were we, C&RT going to clear the bank of brambles and undergrowth that rises up against bridge 76 this year to allow the wild flowers to break through when spring arrives'.
As you can see from the attached photographs 'job done'. With a bonus of the footpath from the road bridge down to lock 3, plus the hedges, kerbs, mooring rings and lock quadrants also cleared of debris. Plus a local litter pick was carried out.
The local 'Audlem' volunteer lock keepers are out most days and as always meet on the second Saturday of each month adjacent to the Audlem Mill Shop / C&RT yard at around 10:00.
New volunteers are always more than welcome to join us. We do have spare life jackets and full training is given for our various and rewarding tasks.
Regards.
Derek Jones. – Audlem Volunteer Lock Keeper / Ranger.
