I must begin this months report with an apology, yes the document is late in its arrival with 'Audlem on Line'. With a holiday booked and then on our arrival home we found that we had been invited to an 'Event in deepest Cornwall', which we attended, hence my late report update.

In preparation for the forthcoming Festival of Transport ' Historical Boat Gathering the team this month have been requested to clear the off side moorings between locks 14 to 15.

With the kind assistance of our Canal and River Trust Supervisor 'Neville Preece' things were put into place to carry out the request successfully, Neville arranged the use of power tools under the guidance of Jim Stretch our lead volunteer for the day. As normal things went well and with a volunteer team on duty of 5 members plus Jim leading us through the activity. As well as the main programme of work, clearing light undergrowth from locks 14 to 15 the team were also involved in clearing weeds from the brick paving area near lock 13 with lock quadrants being swept, a litter pick of the area also took place.

As we worked plentiful supplies of coffee were supplied by Peter and Christine from the Audlem Mill Shop.

The Audlem Team of Volunteer Lock Keepers will be on duty over the weekend period, as normal, for the 'Historical Boat Gathering' assisting in the smooth passage of boat traffic on the flight.

If you see us working, you are more than welcome to ask or even discuss 'what being a Volunteer Lock Keeper / Lock Ranger involves' we look forward to meeting you at the event.
