Last Friday morning the Volunteer Lock Keepers / Lock Rangers, based in Audlem, met as normal inside of their covered accommodation adjacent to the
entrance to the Audlem Mill Shop.
Again 'as normal' our full time Task Force Team Leader 'Angela' briefed the team (11 Volunteers today) with the day's tasks. Being mindful of the weather, a
little breezy and a hint of rain in the air.
We set off with our various tools and equipment to the area from the road bridge (opposite the Bridge Inn) down to lock 12, the general pathways, lock quadrants, raised bank area and overhanging shrubs and low branches, job done.
As the wind strengthened and rain became heavier the team returned to the covered accommodation for a well earned cup of tea and a well appreciated 'hot bacon roll' from our resident chef ' lock keeper, thank you 'Robbo'.
A short report this month, but the team achieved all areas of the days tasks, in all another rewarding day in clearing a well used area of the canal tow path.
The team will meet again on Friday 9th November for its next planned task force day again in the covered accommodation with a 09:30 start.
But you will find various members of the team on duty 'most days' lock keeping on the Audlem Flight of locks.
Report ends.
