Regular readers to AudlemOnline may be interested in a small new feature we've recently introduced to the website. Eagle eyed surfers may have already spotted the 'visits today' link which has recently appeared in the footer of the homepage.

The link text includes a number which counts visits to our website, a figure which is updated each hour throughout the day. Hardcore geeks can click on the link to access a popup screen which includes average reader numbers and a monthly log going back to January 2013 (when we moved over to the new version of the site).

People often ask as to the difference between visits and hits. For those who are interested, hopefully this example will explain it:

Fred visits AudlemOnline at breakfast where he reads 4 news stories. Then he returns at lunchtime and reads another 2 news stories. In this example our system would record 2 visits and 6 hits.

The number of hits to a website will generally be higher than visits, although common practice is to publish visit numbers as these are more accurate at determining the popularity of a site. If you want to have a look at our stats, return to the homepage, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the link.
