Val Mackin has written in to say that her son, Alex, found an article in the January addition of 'Buses' Magazine which features the Butter Market in the centre of the village.

The article suggests that this could – possibly – be Britain's oldest bus shelter, given that the Butter Market dates back to 1733.

'Buses' goes on to describe not only the history of Audlem's market charter, 'heroically' granted in 1295 by KIng Edward I, but also to detail the fact that three benches as well as a bus timetable are available to travellers.
