Burleydam W I Christmas Party

Burleydam W I held their Christmas Party in the Community Meeting Room on December 3rd and members were greeted with a glass of sherry.

A minimum of business was done: arrangements were made for the visit to Chester Cathedral for the Christmas concert on December 17th/18th; lunch at the Thatch at Faddiley on January 25th; and a visit to Jack and the Beanstalk at Theatre Seven is planned for January 10th 2013.

Joint President, Jean Cornes then organised a Beetle Drive with prizes for every winner, followed by poems and monologues by June Orend. Musical entertainment was provided by Amelia Latham on the keyboard, and later she played her guitar and sang popular songs.

Members then organised more games before light refreshments and a glass of wine were served.

The very pleasant evening was concluded with singing a selection of carols expertly accompanied by Victoria Dakin on the flute.

Jean Birchall thanked the committee for organising the evening; Jean Cornes won the competition: and the very generous donations to the raffle meant that most people won a prize!
