Andy Cliffe writes" 1st to 28 February is the British Heart Foundation month sporting the logo of Red for Heart!! National TV, radio, internet media and newspapers are promoting the Red for Heart!! campaign and the BHF has also released several short video clips.

"Its request is a simple one, everyone young or old can join in. The British Heart Foundation is a charity which relies entirely on donations of time and money; they spend over £100 every minute supporting this pioneering work.

"Not until I'd had a heart attack at 45 did I find out that I have Ischaemic Heart Disease which required a Heart Bypass. I am 6 months into recovery but without the skills, training and research of the BHF Cardiothoracic Staff, I and thousands of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, mums, dads etc each year would have died.

"To help is easy -
- Organise a Wear Red Day at work, school, university, pub, wherever.
- Organise a 'Wear Red' party, a 'Wear Red' sponsored challenge, a Wear Red Valentines Party, or create your own 'Wear Red' event.

"Anything goes as long as it's 'Wear Red' and legal! It's easy, a great way to have fun and, in the process, help to save a life.

"In the UK we all want and expect help when sudden heart problems arise. It can happen and does happen to anyone. The next person who needs their help and research could be the person reading this – You."
