Billy Gibbons on Popmaster

We missed it live, but earlier this week well-known Audlem personality Billy Gibbons was on Popmaster on the Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio2.

Ken Bruce was clearly overwhelmed by Billy who was making his second appearance on the pop knowledge quiz, admitting to only having scored 6 (out of a possible 39) last time about ten years ago. The radio presenter was particularly alarmed by Billy's promise to visit the studios and play rockabilly with Ken on drums and Billy on guitar.

On to the questions and Billy had clearly upped his game scoring a decent 15 points. It wasn't enough to win on the day, however, as his opponent from Dorset came home with 23 points. Billy did win a Popmaster teeshirt so worth keeping an eye out for that in the village.

Billy tells us he has received numerous emails including this one where he clearly cheered up somebody's day: "Hi Billy, just been listening to you on "Popmaster" with Ken Bruce.
You had me & my husband curled up with laughter. I have permanent nerve damage in my back and I have had terrible pain in my feet this morning but I have laughed so hard that the pain is now bearable. Cheers! You really ought to be prescribed on the NHS."
