Biker Down at Fire HQ

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has organised 'Biker Down' courses for motorcyclists.

Biker Down is a free training course run by bikers for bikers and offers people the chance to learn practical skills to help avoid being involved in a crash, as well as essential first-aid training and advice on what to do should they find themselves first on the scene of a crash where someone is injured.

There are just two Biker Down courses remaining for 2015, both to be held at the Service's headquarters in Sadler Road, Winsford CW7 2FQ.

They are on Sunday 4th October 2015 and Sunday 6th December 2015.

The courses are extremely popular and places are limited, so book early by emailing frances.egerton@cheshirefire.gov.uk or call Frances on 01606 868295.

Statistics show that injuries to motorcyclists are out of proportion to their presence on our roads. Motorcyclists are just 1% of total road traffic, but account for 19% of all road user deaths.

Colin Heyes, Road Safety Manager for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We understand that bikers want to enjoy riding the roads of Cheshire, but we want them to be as safe as they can. The firefighters that deliver Biker Down are all experienced bikers too.

"Most bikers are well aware of the risks and the dangers they face on the roads; Biker Down aims to help them to deal with the dangers and difficult situations that can happen when riding a motorcycle. It can also help them to reduce the risks that they face, and enjoy their biking safely."
