Building on the success of last year's Poppy Picnic which was in aid of the Royal British Legion, this year the Big Day Out is a Mad Hatter's Tea Party in aid of St Luke's Hospice and Macmillan.

Held at the Nantwich Show ground on Sunday 2nd August from 11.00am – 4.00pm, the Big Day Out makes use of the huge Hospitality Marquee so the vast majority of activities can be weatherproofed if the heavens open like they did last year.

The Big Day Out is staged by RedShift Radio, Little Tigers Magazine and inNantwich.net, a new website all about Nantwich. The aim of the event over coming years is to turn it into a Festival of Youth but for now, the organisers are keen to cement it into the annual events calender as a celebration of the South Cheshire communities.

Attractions this year include Bubble Footie, Paintball, Archery, Quad Bikes and Giant inflatables while in the Community, Grown Up, Play and Shopping Zones you will find arts and crafts for children, soft play, party games, treasure hunt, a fun film quiz, pizza's, BBQ, real ale and cocktails all brought to you by organisations from the Crewe and Nantwich areas. There will even be a replica Spitfire to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Guests are being invited to "Wear a Mad Hat for Macmillan" or "Sing a Song for St Luke's" by participating in the photo or karaoke competitions on the day.

Main organiser Liz Southall from RedShift Radio said "the Big Day Out is a fabulous celebration of our community where people of all ages can enjoy engaging, fun and some unique activities whilst finding out and supporting lots of organisations from our local area".

Support has come from companies such as Wulvern, Hall Smith Whittingham, Martin & Co, Rubber2you Mobile Tyre Fitters, Blakemere Village, Darlingtons, Richmond Village, Motherwell CIC, the South Cheshire Chamber and Ableworld who have either sponsored a Zone or a charity to attend.

Over 60 activities or exhibitors are listed online along with links to purchase Early Bird tickets for just £6 for an adult and free child www.innantwich.net/BigDayOut . Early Birds will receive a discount voucher pack on arrival to use on the day and throughout the summer holidays.
