Today, Audlem Online conclude its week-long report on the judges' comments in the recent 'Best Kept Village' awards organised by Cheshire Community Council. You can check out the earlier comments in news stories carried on Tuesday, Wednesday and yesterday. Audlem scored 95% overall in the judging and won the award for villages with a population of 1,001 – 2,500. The villages judged in this section, in order of scores, were:

1.Audlem 2.Tattenhall 3.Christleton 4.Rainow 5.Hale 6.Wincham 7.Burton (Wirral) 8.Mickle Trafford 9.Walton 10.Bunbury 11= Rixton with Glazebrook and Waverton 12= Hough & Chorlton, Kingsley and Malpas.

Today, we highlight the judges' comments on gardens and floral displays, as well as their concluding remarks.

"When both driving and walking extensively around the village, we found homes well maintained and gardens well tended and a pleasure to look at. On our first visit the spring planting in all floral displays was over but at the next visit all had been replanted with colourful summer bedding. Canal towpaths were well maintained and seating provided and we noticed in particular the area on the opposite bank from the Shroppie Fly which looked most attractive.

"In conclusion – congratulations to the community of Audlem in the balance they have maintained and developed between its historical past and current new developments. There is such an obvious pride in the community and it was a joy to judge."

On behalf of the village, thanks should be made to the judges for this extensive and detailed report. It's always good for a community to learn how other see us and the judges comments have, we at Audlem Online believe, made fascinating reading.
