Last night, at the Cheshire Community Pride awards evening organised by Cheshire Community Council, Audlem won the accolade of the Best Kept Village in Cheshire with a population of 1001 – 2,500.

The award ceremony was held at Tatton Park and was the 50th year of the competition, which is sponsored by Shell UK. The evening was introduced by Cllr. Neville Price, the chairman of Cheshire County Council, who spoke at Audlem's evening of celebration earlier this year on 20th January.

It was exactly a year ago, at the Community Pride event, that Audlem's amazing run of success in winning awards started. That culminated in the village being Cheshire and North of England 'Village of the Year' and then Defra national Village of the Year for 'Building Community Life'. Only last week, Audlem was highly commended in the Calor 'Best of the Best' national competition for winning villages over the past 10 years.

Villages and small towns from all over Cheshire attended last night's event including 11 communities in the Crewe & Nantwich District. Of these, Audlem was the only one to win a 'Best Kept Village' award.
