BBC1's Breakfast Show gave Audlem's Mend our Mum video amazing national coverage this morning.
Before Berni Cliffe, daughter Terri and Ralph Warburton appeared on the couch to be interviewed, many villagers appeared in clips from the video with new interviews such as at the Village Chippy while the Overwater marina, the post office, Old Priest House, the bell ringers, Audlem Ramblers and others plus, of course, young Macy who starts and finishes the film.
Berni somehow managed to speak supremely well in what must have been a very difficult and emotional interview as she described her prognosis and the possible treatments available.
Terri described how she and her sister Hannah had set up the Mend our Mum website and how, working as she does in the Lord Combermere, the idea of the video started.
Ralph Warburton was on the couch too, and he told how it had been put together, how well the children of St James' school had performed and all the community groups, even giving the exact population of Audlem to show how large a proportion of residents had been involved.
Amazingly, within a short time about £8,000 had been added to the total on the Mend our Mum charity website with most of the comments saying "Just seen you on the BBC" or similar.
One contributor said: "I was very moved by your story and it's a reminder of what Christmas and a community spirit should really be about."
Another said: "My favourite song sung by an amazing community for a special cause. You're in my heart, brought tears to my eyes."
And another: "Saw you on TV this morning, what a brilliant community you have, you should all be so very proud. I wish you all the luck and really hope you reach your target."
We hope to bring you the clip later today – it takes a time – but when available it really is worth watching.
AudlemOnline hits suddenly shot up again as the show was on – there have been over 16,000 readers clicking on in the past few days and hopefully the Mend our Mum website and the YouTube video are receiving large numbers of hits now that the story has gone national.
