Audlem and the success of the Mend our Mum campaign hitting its £100,000 target were featured on last night's BBC1's North West Tonight.

BBC news correspondent Mark Edwardson, who covered the launch of the Amazing Grace DVD back in December, revisited the village to report on the success of the video and the fund-raising.

He interviewed Berni Cliffe and daughter Hannah, Alisdair Mackenzie from the production team, and there were shots of Audlem and many excerpts from the Amazing Grace film.

It was a detailed report and covered Berni's treatment and how she is undergoing further surgery this week.

Mark Edwardson concluded his report using part of the inscription on the memorial in Audlem Square – 'by medicine life may be prolonged' – and said that it could almost have been written to describe Berni's case. The BBC North West Tonight team finished by sending their best wishes to her.

The Audlem report is 9.30 minutes into the programme.
