Audlem's 100% record ended on Saturday, as the 1st XI made their own attempt to go viral as they were rolled out for just 19, in a crushing 8-wicket defeat at the hands of HMV.

On a day where you would be lucky to get any cricket whatsoever, Audlem lost their first match of the season at a wet Heaton Mersey.

Following a delayed start and with more rain forecast, any game time seemed to be a bonus and bowling first appeared to be the only viable option. So, when Richard Wilson lost the toss it was no surprise they were told to bat first.

Everything from there on in seemed to go wrong for the Audlem outfit. The pitch was wet and soft and the outfield was long, but this was no excuse for the carnage that followed.

After three overs they were 2-3 as Rothwell, Shenton and Wilson were all dismissed bringing Leese and Matthews to the crease. These two looked solid enough, but the outfield was absorbing their best shots as well as the fielders, which probably led to the pressure that led to the 4th wicket run out of Leese.

A first ball dismissal, bowled by Hussain, followed for Ronnie Farnell, a first team debutant, and then Morris went for 1 as Audlem were reeling at 7-6, staring a single figure total in the face.

Mcilveen and Matthews then tried to stop the freefall as they both managed to hang around for a while, battling their way up to 14, before Mcilveen was out in a typically unlucky way that just epitomised Audlem's day. A well timed leg glance, just hit the fielder and it popped up in the air, allowing him to take what ended up being a simple catch.

Humphries managed to get Audlem up to 19, but an LBW, a calamitous run out and another duck summed up a day that probably couldn't get much worse. Phadke finished his fine spell of bowling with figures of 5-7 and Hussain 3-9.

It took HMV 9.4 overs to get to the total in the end. However, Audlem did manage to get two wickets, which could have been more, as Humphries took 1-8 bowling Hussain and the other wicket to fall was another run out. Samuels and Wellington finished 7* and 12* and managed to hit a few boundaries to get HMV over the line. This win allowed them to get their first win of the season.

It was a huge blip for the side, considering the great start they had made to the season, but it would be unfair to not acknowledge HMV's bowling which was very accurate and kept the batsmen honest at all times.

HMV got 20 points and Audlem 1 point. Audlem travel to Knutsford this weekend, who have won their first 4 matches. The tea will be looking to get back to winning ways.
