Once more I send my ramblings – written in the main to salve any pain that I may have to suffer at the end of our game this weekend versus White Horse team . The image of the ball seeking its target of our goal mouth like a tomahawk missile is seared on my brain. And on the subject of images, I do feel we are in a world now when images profligate – as all around us are the wonder of our mobile phones which nowadays spend half their life as a camera. And as a fine one too with such good definition and colour from such a slim, tiny piece of wizardry.
One only has to see a crowd nowadays at some event or happening and there you have a mass of phones hoisted high to capture a moment. I include one or two of my own.
Wild flowers of Spain, a sight we no longer see as our own meadows have been destroyed by the wide spread use of herbicides – much to detriment of our insects, butterflies and bird population. So, so sad.
We get ever close to the close of the season . Catch up time on matches abandoned or cancelled due to the poor weather.
Large squad announced by our manager, Kev Rogers and the call to shine after a run of poor results. We are definitely in the realms of the Southampton's and the Crystal Palace's as we get ever closer to the bottom of the league table. Pitch is softish after all the precipitation with the soggy Shroppie Fly corner as always.
Referee is Terry Smith -- first time here this season and first time to sample the very best officials room and shower in all the Sunday leagues.
My jungle drums give me the news that we drew 3-3. Referee was not to good this day. No cards for us, which continues a very clean season.
Trevor McDowall
Trevor McDowall, Mark Parker and local player Joe Benson on his birthday weekend.
Pete Jones , our skipper, who suffered that horrendous snapping of leg bones, is now to have an operation in Liverpool to plate his fibula and tibia. We all send him our very best wishes . Such a bad thing for Pete .
Next game is midweek as catch up moves on. This Wednesday.
