The very little shop with a such huge heart held its Annual General Meeting – with the very kind welcome by Vicky and Gary of The Bridge Inn, giving us the room and refreshments totally free.

Chair of the Charity shop, Ann Bowles ,opened the meeting with a warm welcome to a packed house. The annual accounts were presented. Sales in the past year were circa £30,000 -- all through the efforts and dedication of the volunteer ladies and two young brothers. This superb figure was from items priced in the region of £5 to 50p and all sales made in that tiny shop. The declared aim of the Audlem Charity Shop is to raise funds in order to help local good causes. And the high spot of each such occasion is the donations made to the agreed recipients.

This year we were able to give away the princely sum of £28,000. The cheques were given to:-

  • St Luke's Cheshire Hospice,
  • The Donna Louise Children's Trust,
  • The Wingate Special Children's organisation,
  • Audlem & District Community Action
  • The Wheelie Boat Trust.

All those who attended the meeting to receive their donations gave a brief outline of their activity for the benefit of those in their care. Photos show the selected charities receiving such from members of the Charity Shop committee.

Meeting closed at 3.00pm.

Roy Plume has sent in a selection of photos of the event – look out for them on AudlemOnline tomorrow
