Aston & District W.I. March 2019 Report

The final afternoon meeting of Aston and District W.I. this winter took place on Friday 8th March. Members were presented with their name badges as they arrived so that all new members were able to identify fellow members.

Our President Jenny Bourne welcomed everyone to the meeting and after singing 'Jerusalem,' it was business as usual.
This month the Luncheon Club are meeting at the Lord Combermere in Audlem on Tuesday 12th March at 12.00 noon for 12.30 pm.
On Wednesday 13th March the Walking Group will meet in the car park behind the church in Bunbury at 10.15 am. Lunch will be at the Dysart Arms.
Two members are attending the Annual Council Meeting in Northwich where Beth Tweddle is the guest speaker.

The President then introduced our two speakers, James and Sarah Hughes who were to guide us through Estate Planning. Not a subject everyone wants to think about when we are alive and kicking but very essential, especially for loved ones left behind.
The talk covered such things as Wills, Enduring Power of Attorney (for both Health and Wealth); various types of Trusts and Inheritance Planning as well as Tenants in Common. All were explained in very straightforward terms and gave us plenty of food for thought. Last but not least the talk ended with Funeral Planning!
A few commonplace pitfalls were highlighted and there were many questions from the floor.
At the end we all felt that we were either sure we had done the right thing; could do something differently or simply needed to make a start on our planning. One thing was sure; we were all more than ready for our tea and cake!

Dorothy Relton gave the vote of thanks including reciting a poem which Kay Epton had written especially for the occasion.

The competition was to write a Limerick and it was won by Glenys Inight. The raffle tickets were drawn and prizes distributed to five happy members.
Our next meeting is in the evening of 5th April, starting at 7.15 pm. It is a "Social Evening" with Bakes to sample, taste and tell with recipes to share and try at home.

Do come and join us.
New Members and Visitors are always welcome. Details can be found on our website – www.astonanddistrictwi.org.uk
