When Christine Johnson announced on AudlemOnline that she was to start a new Arts Society in the village, she expected half a dozen or so to turn up for the inaugural meeting yesterday at the Bridge Inn.
Imagine her surprise, and delight, when a seemingly endless number of budding artists, or the simply curious, flooded into the pub's conservatory.
"You are now all art students," Christine announced, as she went on to explain that this would be an art course exploring a wide range of techniques that would help both beginners and far more experienced artists.
The group undertook a couple of exercises to kick off the course which will continue in two weeks time, on Friday October 24th at 1.00pm, again at the Bridge Inn. All will build up to an exhibition at the Audlem Music & Arts Festival next May.
Thanks were expressed to the Bridge for laying on coffee as well as the room which, as you can see was packed out. However, if you are interested in joining, do come along next time.
In particular, the one and only male in the room out of thirty, would like to see more men there, if only because he was the only one that imbibed alcohol yesterday – after all, he explained, it is a pub!
