The Long ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk this coming Saturday (17th August) will start from Llangollen with a gentle stroll along the canal to the Horseshoe Falls.

After 3/4 of a mile along the lane through Llantysilio village we tackle the main climb of the day up to the highest point of the walk at Moel y Gamelin. From there an undulating but mostly downhill track takes us to the top of the Horseshoe Pass and the Ponderosa cafe.

We should arrive here about lunchtime so use could be made of the facilities as an alternative to a packed lunch.

The second half of the walk is much easier as we follow the Clywdian Way back down into Llangollen skirting the slopes of Castell Dinas Bran on the way back. There is an option to
climb to the Castell for the more energetic.

The walk is just over 12.5 miles in length with approximately 2500 feet of climbing.

Due to the presence of young grouse on the moors and numerous sheep along the way dogs will need to be on leads for a lot of the walk.

We suggest we meet in the car park at 8.30 am. Sounds good, see you there.
