Next Saturday's ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk is on Anglesey and is organised by Tony Crowther and from his description sounds rather special.

Below are the details Tony has provided:

  • ARS Walk Saturday 8th June: Depart: Audlem Car Park 8:00am
  • Destination: 1 mile north of Beaumaris – Anglesey at Llanfaes Church
  • Distance: 12 and a half miles maximum
  • Ascent: Variable – Total climb 270 metres. Maximum height 164 metres (no oxygen required)

Llanfaes church one mile north of Beaumaris, taking in Llangod village, Menai Strait joining Anglesey coast path to Porth Penmon Priory Lighthouse at Perch Rock looking to Puffin Island. Then on to Red Wharf Bay, Llandonna Village and return to Llanfaes.

This walk is a never-to-be-repeated offer of a life time. It is a must for all that enjoy flowers, coastal paths, fauna, countryside and sea views. Starting at the Church in Llanfaes, this walk includes Lanes, Fields, Streamed Pathways, Pebble Beach, Coastal Path, View Points, Hill Fort, Priory, Sandy Beach, Agricultural Land and Forest. This walk has it all. Orchids to boot!!

4 Booter but a Five Star walk

Travel Distance: 100 miles. Travel time: 2 hours plus or minus 15 minutes
Look forward to seeing you
Tony Crowther

Andy adds: Whilst Tony describes the walk as a "4 Booter" I would imagine that it's an easy one.

Editor says: Abject apologies for the choice of illustration, a watercolour of the Infantile School painted last year by myself. Unfortunately, the temptation could not be resisted and, hopefully, it will not undermine Tony's wonderful description of this walk.
