April 1st stories – which one was true?

We hope you enjoyed yesterday's news stories. As has been our tradition on April Fool's Day, we gave over our news coverage and articles to a somewhat light-hearted view of village life.

Equally traditionally, one of the nine stories is substantially true – which makes it all the more disturbing. The answer will be published tomorrow.

For those that don't enjoy such nonsense, our apologies, although we didn't receive a single complaint. We did receive some very kind comments, however, for which we are grateful and the readership figures for the day were nearly a record.
